ABCO Payroll Services Payroll Processor, Karen Shoemaker, has earned her "Fundamental Payroll Certification" (FPC) from the American Payroll Association (APA) Certification Board.

Certification is the recognition of professional skills by one's peers. The FPC recognition is given by the APA to those working in the payroll profession who: (1) successfully complete the examination for certification; and (2) subscribe to the APA Code of Ethics.

The comprehensive examination required includes testing in the following areas:

1. Core Payroll Concepts
2. Compliance
3. Principles of Paycheck Calculations
4. Payroll Process and Systems
5. Accounting
6. Management and Administration
